President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych signed a decree on celebration of the 22nd anniversary of Ukraine's Independence, the President’s press office informs, Ukrinform reports.

According to the document, the government has to create an Organizational Committee on preparation and celebration of this holiday.

 “Co-chairmen of the Organizational Committee are the Prime Minister and the Head of the Presidential Administration. The Cabinet was tasked to develop and to approve within the two-month period a plan of measures on preparation and celebration of the 22nd anniversary of Ukraine's independence,” the press service statement reads.

According to the decree, a plan of measures should envisage holding of celebrations on the occasion of the Day of State Flag of Ukraine on August 23, 2013, and celebrations on the occasion of the 22nd anniversary of Ukraine's Independence in the whole state with participation of representatives of state authorities and the public.

A special attention in the document is paid to the cultural-art events, dedicated to the 22nd anniversary of Ukraine's independence, in particular, holding of thematic scientific conferences and round tables, exhibitions of archive documents and photomaterials, competitions, shows at national and regional channels of television documentary and feature films, dedicated to the history of the Ukrainian state formation.

The President instructed to ensure holding of holiday fireworks on August 24, 2013, on the occasion of the 22nd anniversary of Ukraine's Independence in Kyiv, Kerch, Odesa, Sevastopol and republican (the Crimean Autonomous Republic) and regional cities.

The Foreign Ministry should ensure organization of events to celebrate this holiday by diplomatic establishments of Ukraine abroad.
