During a telephone conversation, Polish President Mr. Bronislaw Komorowski thanked the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych for actions, which increase the chances of Ukraine to sign the Association Agreement with the European Union in the autumn of this year.

According to the head of the Office of International Affairs Jaromir Sokolowski, Komorowski was pleased to find out about the decision of Yanukovych to pardon former interior minister Yuri Lutsenko, and discussed the issue with him.

"According to the President, it is a good step, which will serve the restoration of the positive image of Ukraine, which, together with the reforms is a condition of signing the Association Agreement at the summit of the Eastern Partnership in Vilnius in November this year," he said.

Sokolowski said that Komorowski repeatedly called on the Ukrainian authorities and the opposition to do everything to fulfill the conditions for the signing of the Association Agreement.
"The President of Poland expects the consolidation of all pro-European political forces in Ukraine in the process of rapprochement to the EU," Sokolowski said.

According to him, Yanukovych assured Komorowski of that the Ukrainian government made significant steps in the matter of electoral legislation and is working on a reform of the justice system.
