Polish government does not support the idea of building another pipeline bypassing Ukraine, which could pass through the territory of Poland within the Yamal-Europe-2 project, head of the Polish government Donald Tusk said on Friday.

According to Tusk, a coordinated policy in this issue also applies to "expectations or views of Russians, who expect to negotiate with Poland on building a pipeline, bypassing Ukraine".

"Poland will not take part in such political contexts. For us, gas is not a political tool, and we want, according to the European legislation, the gas issues to be free from politics," Tusk said.

He also noted that the Polish government is implementing a number of projects to diversify gas supplies to Poland in order to reduce dependence on the main gas supplier - Russia. "Strategically, we don’t want to increase the share of Russian gas," Tusk said.
