The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has refused to lower the retirement age for women from 60 to 55 years old.

As ForUm correspondent reports, the bill on amendments to the law on obligatory state pension insurance by the CPU faction leader Petro Symonenko was supported by 220 MPs out of 226 required. In particular, the Party of Regions faction gave 11 votes, the Batkivshchyna faction – 91votes, the UDAR faction – 38 votes, the Svoboda faction – 36 votes, the Communist Party faction – 31 votes, individual MPs - 13.

In course of discussion of the bill, deputy social policy minister Vyacheslav Kolomiets told the MPs that the changes in the law can not be taken, as a lower retirement age with a minimum length of pensionable service of 15 years would increase the budget deficit of the Pension Fund.

According to him, today's budget deficit of the PF is 21.8 billion UAH, and it would have increased by 8.6 billion UAH if the bill had been taken.
