Supporting the metals and engineering industry in the state program on enhancing economic development for 2013-2014, the government encourages the industries, not helps the oligarchs, economic development and trade minister of Ukraine Ihor Prasolov said, answering a question by ForUm correspondent.

"Does it matter who owns the mining and metals sector? We do not give out them money. The industry employs about 300 thousand people, not taking into account their families, and we just have to support the industries, which employ such a large number of people. We do not give out free money, but we need to support the industries, which give a huge amount of foreign earnings," the minister said.

According to him, the program supports small and medium-sized businesses, and covers all sectors of the economy. "It is wrong to say that the mining and smelting industry is a priority, and pharmaceutical and wood - not a priority. The priorities can be discussed only in the context of state support and cost recovery. So, agriculture and energy sector have the highest cost recovery," Prasolov summed up.
