Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has heard the report of chairman of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration Dmytro Kolesnikov on social and economic development of the region, ForUm learned from the press service of the head of state.
At the beginning of the meeting the President noted that he would like to hear the report from the chairman of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration on the current situation in the region, in particular, economic situation, as well as issues that are currently most relevant for people.
Kolesnikov said that he reported to Yanukovych on the social and economic development of the Dnipropetrovsk region and the prospects for its development in the medium term. According to him, he also informed the President on the state of basic economic sectors in the region.
The President drew special attention to the development of coal and metallurgical industries. He noted that there is no need to increase the coal production until plants for processing coal into synthetic gas are built. The President stressed that Ukraine has a potential to improve the metallurgical industry.
Kolesnikov also reported on the implementation of social initiatives of the President, in particular, the implementation of the program of affordable housing and social protection of children.
