Cold weather will not affect the condition of winter crops, director of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center Mykola Kulbida told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

"In most regions of Ukraine winter crops passed this winter well. The total percentage of areas, which are in poor condition, amounts to 8-10% that is completely normal and is observed every winter," he said.

According to Kulbida, this percentage is slightly higher in the southern and eastern regions.

He said that the ice crust, which was observed on fields in the northern areas, will not harm the crops, because it is too thin.

Kulbida stressed that prolonged cold weather will not affect the condition of winter crops, as the transition from spring to summer temperatures will be very short.
