The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is preparing two bills to reform the road sector, infrastructure minister Volodymyr Kozak told a briefing in the Cabinet, ForUm correspondent reports.

"We need to reform the road sector. We are working on it. We are preparing two bills that will give the ability to attract investments and strictly control the quality of the roads," the minister said.

According to him, one of the bills will redistribute functions for road construction. "The Ministry will define a construction strategy, Ukravtodor will be responsible for the design and execution of works and Ukrtransinspektsiya will assess their quality. We should adopt these bills this year to work under the new legislation next year," Kozak noted.

According to the minister, the issues on concessions and public-private partnerships to build Ukrainian roads are being considered. "Yesterday there was a meeting with the European Investment Bank, which confirmed its participation in the financing of the construction of new roads," he summed up.
