The High Specialized Court for Civil and Criminal Cases has upheld the sentence to former deputy defense minister, acting minister, Valeriy Ivaschenko to five years of imprisonment on probation.
This decision was announced by the presiding judge, Ukrinform reports.

"Cassation complaint disallowed. Sentence remains unchanged," the judge said.

The court also refused to grant the request of the defense to close the criminal proceedings against Ivaschenko. The court will announce a full text of the decision at 15.00 on March 18.

As previously reported, Ivaschenko was convicted for abuse of office when signing in November 2009 the rehabilitation plan for the sale of the integral property complex of the state enterprise Feodosia Marine Engineering Works.
