Prime Minister Mykola Azarov declared that Ukraine has no deficit of medicines, he said, opening the government’s meeting on Wednesday, ForUm correspondent reports.

"On March 1, the law providing licensing for importers of medicinal products entered into force in Ukraine. Do you remember how many were there speculations and outright disinformation about licensing that it will lead to the shortage of drugs and excessive demand? And what happened? As you can see, there are no queues at pharmacies. There is no shortage of drugs. The delivery of drugs occurs in normal mode. Did anyone apologize to the misinformed citizens of Ukraine for the hysteria in the media during a month?" Azarov asked rhetorically.

The Prime Minister expressed hope that the Ukrainians will make right conclusions regarding "another attempt to set them against the government and against the establishing order."

According to him, eight thousand out of 13 thousand names of drugs registered in Ukraine are imported. "Ukrainian medicine for the second year have been produced in accordance with international standards, in terms of good manufacturing practices (GMP), using modern equipment. Their quality and effectiveness are monitored from production to pharmacy shelf. As for the imported drugs, we do not always know how they are produced and transported, and in general, these drugs are water of life as pharmacists like joking," the Prime Minister said.

In his view, the Ukrainians spend too much on drugs, so the government will not allow people to be cheated.
