The Cabinet will consider the possibility of imposing the value added tax on imported drugs, Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said at the meeting with importers, ForUm correspondent reports.
Thus, he offered to think over introduction of the accounting VAT.
“Not fiscal, but accounting VAT. VAT on drugs has been introduced in all European countries. We are an exception, and this allows involvement with various falsifications... We should clearly say that the VAT will be introduced along with the mechanism of its refunding. So there will be no rise in medicaments' cost,” Prime Minister said.
In addition, Azarov offered leading suppliers of medicines to develop proposals on lowering prices during 2-3 weeks.
The Prime Minister said he is ready to support and is interested in the transparent market mechanism.
"I hope that we will be able to create an effective decision-making process. I’m looking forward to receiving your suggestions," the Prime Minister concluded.
