Ukraine will build mines to produce synthetic gas

This year, Ukraine will launch the construction of three mines to produce synthetic gas, President Viktor Yanukovych told a press conference, ForUm correspondent reports

"This year we will obligatory begin the construction of three mines to produce synthetic gas, which we lack," he said.

According to him, 85 million tons of coal were produced last year.

Yanukovych also said that the coal production will increase to ensure the needs of the Ukrainian power generation. "By our calculations, we need 100-105 million tons of coal to provide the fuel balance. That is, the coal production will have to increase year after year," he said.
