Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has signed a decree on celebration of the 17th anniversary of adoption of the Constitution of Ukraine, the President’s press service informed.
This decree instructs the Cabinet to develop and implement a plan of activities to mark the 17th anniversary of adoption of the Constitution, providing for, inter alia:
- laying flowers to the monuments and memorials to outstanding Ukrainian statesmen in Kyiv and other towns;
- organization with the participation of the Constitutional Assembly of scientific-practical conference on the history of domestic constitutional law and ways to improve the Fundamental Law of Ukraine, as well as thematic scientific conferences and round tables in the country.
In addition, the government is instructed to ensure holding of outreach activities (lectures, conferences, film screenings, exhibitions of photographic and archival documents, etc.) in order to clarify the meaning of provisions of the Constitution of Ukraine in the formation of a democratic state, the formation of the legal culture and to raise social awareness and respect for the Fundamental Law of Ukraine, and the organization of cultural events, sporting events, dedicated to the Constitution Day.
The decree comes into force upon the date of its publication.
