The next round of negotiations of the Permanent Conference on Political Affairs within the framework of negotiations on the Transnistrian conflict settlement in 5 +2 format will be held on May 23-24, 2013, in Odesa. The meeting will be attended by the Republic of Moldova, Transnistria – as the parties; the OSCE, Ukraine, Russian Federation – as the mediators, EU, U.S. – as the observers.
This proposal was supported by participants of the first official meeting in this year to settle the Transnistrian conflict, which took place on February 19 in Lviv, under the chairmanship of Ukraine.
During the meeting in Lviv, the participants discussed social and economic issues, in particular the priority measures to improve the freedom of movement of people from both banks of the Dniester, humanitarian cooperation and human rights. The proposal of the OSCE chairperson-in-office Leonid Kozhara on the organization of a meeting between Moldovan and Transnistrian leaders in the current year was supported.
