The General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine urges the opposition, including former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, to stop distorting the words of Prosecutor General Viktor Pshonka because of ignorance or lack of understanding of the current legislation.

"At the press conference on January 18, Ukraine's Prosecutor General said that the investigation, under the new Code of Criminal Procedure, after a number of actions, obtained sufficient evidence to give notification of suspicion to Tymoshenko for such crimes as organization of murder of MP Yevhen Shcherban and organization of theft of funds in the amount of nearly 3 billion UAH. That was done," statement of the General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine press service reads.

The Prosecutor General announced that the pre-trial investigation intends to question Tymoshenko.

"Defense of Tymoshenko and the convict herself, being the suspect for other crimes, is trying consciously or unconsciously to distort words of Prosecutor of Ukraine, snatching them out of context, to declare regular political statements," the GPO statement says.

"Only the court will determine the degree of guilt or innocence of Tymoshenko," statement of the General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine press service reads.
