Since January 2013, the registration of public associations and NGOs has been free of charge, head of the Office for Constitutional and Legal Modernisation Affairs under the Administration of the President of Ukraine Maryna Stavniychuk told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

"The main innovation of the law of Ukraine on public associations, which came into force on January 1, 2013, is the abolition of fees for registration of associations," she said.

Stavniychuk reminded that earlier the procedure cost about 200 UAH. With the entry into force of this law, the procedure of registration of public associations has been generally simplified. In particular, "registration period has been shortened up to seven days, the period of legalization (if a public association informs of its existence, but does not want to register as a legal entity - Ed.) has been reduced to three days," advisor to the President said.

Another main innovation is that registration authorities will check whether the documents comply with the Constitution and laws of Ukraine. Earlier, the authorities checked the statutory documents of public organizations and whether they complied with respective by-laws of Ukraine.
