The Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry expects gross yield of winter wheat in the amount of 19 million tons in 2013, minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk told a briefing in the Cabinet, ForUm correspondent reports.

"Winter crops are planted on 8.1 million hectares. Winter wheat is planted on 6.7 million hectares, rye - 304 hectares, barley - 1.1 million hectares," he said.

The minister said that the state of winter crops does not give rise to concern in most of regions.
 
"There are sprouts on 7.8 million hectares, which is 96%. 7.1 million hectares (92%) are in good and satisfactory condition. Weak and rare sprouts are on 0.7 million hectares (8%)," Prysiazhniuk said.

The official also said that 85% of grain and leguminous crops are ready for spring planting. Prysiazhniuk added that the State Seed Fund has already prepared 10 thousand tons of seed of spring cultures to cover the seeds deficit of some agricultural producers.
