The National Bank of Ukraine expects the initiative to charge 10% from the sale of foreign currency to be considered and adopted at the coming Parliament’s sitting, which may take place in January 2013, chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine committee to combat unfair currency transactions Yuri Gorshkov said.
Parliament has already formed the relevant committees, which will consider the bill, amend it, if necessary and submit for approval.
"Strengthening of the hryvnia has clearly proven that the U.S. dollar is not a perfect tool for saving money. The dollar soared up to 8 hryvnia 40 kopecks, now it is down below 8 hryvnia. We hope the Verkhovna Rada will introduce the tax on the sale of foreign currency. This will finally stop currency speculation attempts," Gorshkov said.
