The government will do everything possible to eliminate the effects of the snowstorm in the current situation, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said, the Cabinet’s press service informs.
"Many regions of Ukraine suffer from extremely difficult weather conditions. Two-month rate of snow has fallen during the last week. Frost and snow storms have resulted in significant aggravation of the situation on the roads. Many towns have been left without electricity," the press service statement reads.
According to Azarov, the government takes the necessary steps to maintain the normal life in the country. "The relevant Ministries and agencies, regional authorities have been instructed to restore electricity and provide transportation, if necessary - to restrict or close traffic," he stressed.
Prime Minister recalled that the Cabinet of Ministers has set up the operational headquarters and the relevant services are working around the clock in emergency mode.
"However, the situation remains dangerous to life and health of people. In order to prevent accidents on the roads during extreme weather conditions please refrain from entering the road without a necessity. I assure you that the Government will do everything possible to eliminate the effects of the snowstorm," Azarov summed up.
