The European Commission proposes its services in the tripartite discussion on modernization of the gas transportation system (GTS) of Ukraine, energy minister of Russia Alexander Novak told a press conference in Moscow on Friday.
"This issue was on the agenda. We discussed it with Commissioner Oettinger. The European Commission offers its services in the tripartite discussion of the GTS modernization of Ukraine," he said.
In addition, Novak reminded that in 2002 an agreement was reached on the management of Ukraine's GTS at the level of the heads of states, but, unfortunately, the work of the consortium has not begun yet, because Ukraine has not initiated this issue.
According to him, that is why as of today, the status of the relationship on implementation of infrastructure projects in Ukraine allows only supplying the gas.
