Russian President Vladimir Putin hopes that Ukrainian OSCE chairmanship in 2013 will change the state of affairs in the organization.

"It is important to intensify coordination on the most essential aspects of the organization's activities. Unfortunately, the current state of affairs is not inspiring optimism. It is time the OSCE stopped taking care of the interests of individual countries and focused on unifying agendas," Putin said at the meeting of the Heads of State Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States in Ashgabat.

He expressed the hope that Ukraine as the OSCE chairman will take up this particular position.
