Vietnam offers Ukraine to begin negotiating on a free trade area between the two countries in January 2013, vice Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Hoang Trung Hai said during the meeting with Prime Minister Mykola Azarov in Kyiv on Monday, the Cabinet’s press service informs.

"We propose to start concrete negotiations on the introduction of free trade area in January 2013. We believe that the signing of this agreement will give impetus to our trade and economic relations," vice Prime Minister of Vietnam said.
 
He stressed that the Vietnamese party is also interested in the speedy signing of the agreement on mutual protection of investment and implementation of agreements on plant quarantine, cooperation with Ukraine in the sphere of defense, especially in the modernization of military equipment, including aircraft AN-26 of the Vietnamese Air Force.

Hoang Trung Hai said that Vietnam highly appreciates Ukraine's experience in the construction of nuclear power plants and hydroelectric pumped storage power plants, in particular, now the Ukrainian Institute develops design documentation for construction of the first nuclear power plant in Vietnam. "Ukrainian Institute is currently developing the project documentation for the construction of the first nuclear power plant in Vietnam. We greatly appreciate the experience and skills of workers of this institution," he said.

In turn, Azarov supported the initiative for an early conclusion of negotiations on the FTA with Vietnam and the agreement on mutual protection of investments.
