The strategy for sustainable development of rural areas and the strategy for agricultural sector development up to 2020 will be developed, President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych said during the Agriculture Day celebrations, ForUm correspondent reports.
"It is planned to adopt a number of important documents in the near future. The strategy for sustainable development of rural areas and the strategy for agricultural sector development naturally complement each other and will be based on the European standards," the President said.
However, in his opinion, the state support for agricultural enterprises is not less important issue.
"Subsidies to unprofitable enterprises create the conditions for their degradation. We need to reorient the system of subsidies in such a way to encourage those who use the help most effectively, those who produce high quality products, who uses these funds solely for the purpose of technological re-equipment of the enterprises," Yanukovych said.
According to the President, it is impossible to solve the problem only at the expense of the state, so farmers have to pay more attention to attracting private capital, including foreign investments.
