The Central Election Commission chairman Volodymyr Shapoval said that March is the best time for holding re-elections in five single-member constituencies, in which it is impossible to establish reliable election results.
"If the CEC adopted a decision now, we would have to appoint elections somewhen in the first ten days of January. Imagine the first ten days of January and imagine conditions of financing election campaigns. In the beginning of the year there are always organizational difficulties, and so this is an additional problem that must at least be taken into account," Shapoval said.
Shapoval also sees no problem in the formation of the newly elected Parliament not in full strength due to the inability to establish credible election results in five single-member constituencies.
"I do not think it is good that we will have vacant seats, if they are in the Verkhovna Rada of the next convocation. But this is normal. There are always problems in single-member constituencies," Shapoval said.
