The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) asks the Shevchenko District Court of Kyiv to choose a preventive measure in the form of arrest for the former employee of the State Security Service Major Mykola Melnychenko.
The representative of the General Prosecutor's Office said that he agreed with this proposal.
The defense asked the court to release Melnychenko in his own custody.
In turn, when asked whether he underwent pressure by investigators, Melnychenko said: "Can I be oppressed?"
"On October 21, in the U.S., I was informed of the impending attempt and decided to buy tickets to Ukraine, saying it only to lawyer. I have returned to conduct all investigative actions, to answer for every action, to go through all the trials to establish the truth. I do not want to leave the Ukraine in any case," Melnychenko said.
