Police are searching for the killer of the guards in the Karavan shopping mall, without attracting too much attention of citizens, chief of the Interior Ministry press service Volodymyr Polishchuk told ForUm.
According to him, a special operation "Siren" was conducted in Kyiv and Kyiv region only during the last weekend. "The investigation is continuing, but citizens do not need to see policemen with machine guns and flak jackets. Investigators work in civilian clothes," Polishchuk said. He also confirmed that, at the weekend, even traffic policemen wore bulletproof vests.
However, he refused to comment on information that the suspect of murder Yaroslav Mazurok tried to withdraw money from an ATM in Lviv region. "This could obstacle the investigation," Polishchuk said.
Polishchuk also urged citizens who know the whereabouts of the suspect, to call 102 and not try to stop the alleged murderer themselves.
