Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Lytvyn hopes for further cooperation between Ukraine and the OSCE.

"We are interested in cooperation with the OSCE and its Parliamentary Assembly, especially now during the pre-election period," Lytvyn noted during a meeting with OSCE PA President Riccardo Migliori, the press service of the Parliament reported.

The speaker said that a large number of observers from the parliamentary institutions for this election is a positive option. "The observers are not interested in persons and parties, they assess the election process. The observers are interested whether the elections correspond to the domestic legislation and generally accepted rules," Lytvyn stressed.

He also noted that the work of observers is a "disciplinary factor for candidates from both the government and the opposition."

In turn, the OSCE PA President expressed a hope that the work of the mission will contribute to the further development of the constructive relationship between Ukraine and the OSCE.
