The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine filed an appeal against the ruling of the Economic Court of Kyiv obliging the Ukrainian government to pay over 3.1 billion UAH (around $390 million) of the United Energy Systems of Ukraine corporation debts to the Russian Defense Ministry, the press service of the Justice Ministry of Ukraine reported on Thursday.
"We inform that on September 25, 2012, a representative of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine filed an appeal against the court ruling to the Kyiv Economic Court of Appeals," the Justice Ministry statement says.
As reported, on September 19, the Kyiv Economic Court partially satisfied a suit of the Russian Defense Ministry concerning a debt of the Unified Energy Systems of Ukraine (UESU), binding Ukraine to pay 3.11 billion UAH ($400 million) to Russia's Defense Ministry.
