NATO concerned about energy cyber attacks

In the world, the risks of non-traditional challenges increase, Deputy Secretary General of NATO on new security challenges, ambassador Gabor Iklodi said during the international conference "NATO and partners: the new security challenges", ForUm correspondent reports.

"Cyber attacks can cause damage to our societies, as now they happen more often and are more serious than before," he said.

NATO spokesman stressed that such risks exist in the field of energy security as well. "Vulnerability of the transit routes arise concern, regardless of whether a certain country is producer, transiter or just energy consumer," Iklodi said.

"Terrorism is also a threat to all countries regardless of whether they are NATO members or the partners," he said.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania in Ukraine Petras Vaitiekunas agrees with this opinion. He added that non-traditional challenges may be different in nature and character and now they threaten all industries - transport, customs and border guards and others.
