National Bank of Ukraine notes the increase in the share of foreign capital in the Ukrainian banking system in August 2012 by 1.7 percentage points to 42.9%, the NBU message says.

As of September 1, 55 financial institutions out of 176 banks operating in Ukraine are those with foreign capital (as of January 1 - 53 banks with foreign capital out of 176), including 23 - with 100% foreign capital (January 1 - 22).

Total registered authorized capital of Ukrainian banks as of September 1 totaled 172.479 billion UAH (January 1 – 171.865 billion UAH).

Net assets of Ukrainian banks as of September 1 totaled 1 102 582 billion UAH (1 January - 1 054.280 billion UAH), total assets - 1 247 974 billion UAH (January 1 - 1 211.540 billion UAH).
 
As of September 1, in Ukraine there were registered 176 banks, and from the beginning of 2012 24 financial institutions have been excluded from the State register of banks.

As of September 1, 24 banks were pending liquidation (January 1 - 198 registered and 21 banks pending).

The share of bad loans in the total amount of loans granted by Ukrainian banks as of September 1 was 9.39%, or 76.614 billion UAH (the total amount of loans as of September 1 - 816 434 billion UAH).

As a reminder, for 2011, the share of foreign capital in the banking system rose from 40.6% to 41.9%.

In 2010 the share of foreign capital in the Ukrainian banking system increased by 4.8 percentage points from 35.8% to 40.6%, for the year 2009 decreased by 0.9 percentage points from 36.7% to 35.8%.
