The Education and Science, Youth and Sports Ministry of Ukraine proposes to hold fall holidays on October 25-31, 2012, the Ministry’s press service informs.
According to the report, the Ministry sent a letter with this proposal to regions.
Classes are recommended to begin from November 1.
"This will provide an opportunity in an orderly manner to begin and finish the work of polling stations and accurately prepare the school premises for the classes under sanitary standards," the report says.
The Ministry also notes that the timing of holidays are set in consultation with the local education authorities, but their duration in secondary schools during the school year cannot be less than 30 calendar days (Article 16 of the law of Ukraine on general secondary education).
