Today, the Constitutional Assembly will consider expanding the powers of the Accounts Chamber, secretary of the Constitutional Assembly Maryna Stavniychuk said, ForUm This, correspondent reports.

"The issue relates to Ukraine's obligations with respect to corruption, the establishment of appropriate financial control, the parliamentary one in particular," she said.

Stavniychuk reminded that issues concerning the state budget have been debated since the very adoption of the Constitution.

Meanwhile, chairman of the Constitutional Assembly Leonid Kravchuk said that today the Constitutional Assembly will consider amendments to the Article 98 of the Basic Law.

The Article 98 of the Constitution, adopted in 1998, states that control over the use of state budget funds on behalf of the Parliament shall be executed by the Accounts Chamber. After the political reform in 2004, this article was amended: the Accounts Chamber acquired the functions of control over the budget revenue. Later, this provision was cancelled.
