The Ministry of Education and Science, Youth and Sport intends to increase the passing grade of the external independent testing on specialized competitive courses for participation in the admission competition to higher education institutions in 2013, deputy director of the Higher Education Department of the Education Ministry Mykola Fomenko told a press conference.
He noted that, during the admission campaign of 2012, the passing grade of the external independent testing on specialized subject was raised from 124 to 140 points, and the Education Ministry intends to increase it more in 2013.
He said that this year, about 70% of the applicants could get 420 points that, in his view, shows the need to improve the quality of education in schools.
In addition, Fomenko hopes that in the coming years, Ukraine will build such system of education, which will eliminate the need to file documents to the universities by the applicants, and various higher education institutions of different level of accreditation will invite high school graduates according to their abilities and success rate.
