President Viktor Yanukovych notes the importance of the development of small hydropower plants to ensure the stability of the country's energy system.
"The production of turbines for small hydro power plants is of course perspective. We should think more over the development of small generators," he said at the meeting with the economists in Kharkiv.
Yanukovych said that small generators are a substantial basis for the development of energy system in Ukraine as a whole, since they are regulators of daily load in the system.
"Adjusting the daily loads is the quality of electric power and its cost," he said.
Yanukovych said that the construction of large pumped storage facilities is very costly and they do not allow adjusting daily load at the proper level.
He stressed that the small generators will also contribute to the production of electricity and to the efficiency of the energy system of the country.
