The Yalta MPs have started to implement the provisions of the law of Ukraine on national language policy, the Yalta City Council press service informs.

The relevant decision was approved on August 21 at the extraordinary session of the City Council. The document was adopted in accordance with the Article 10 of the Constitution of Ukraine, the law of Ukraine on ratification of the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages, the Article 7 of the law of Ukraine on national language policy, the Article 26 of the law of Ukraine on local self-government in Ukraine. The MPs also took into the account the resolution of the Parliament of Crimea on urgent measures to implement the law of Ukraine on national language policy in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

The Yalta City Council Executive Committee was instructed to develop, adopt and implement measures to ensure the provisions of the law of Ukraine on national language policy and submit to the session a draft decision on the measures aimed at the use of regional or minority languages in the city of Yalta.

The city residents, NGOs, other institutions of civil society, the MPs should be involved in developing the measures, the statement says.
