The State Commission for Regulation of Financial Services Markets together with the Interior Ministry is preparing a legislative initiative to establish criminal responsibility for the creation and promotion of pyramid schemes in the financial markets, the head of the Commission Andriy Stasevsky told an online conference, which runs on ForUm.
According to Stasevsky, the question of the MMM and other pyramid schemes is, first and foremost, the question of financial literacy of people.
"Currently, our Commission together with the Government, the National Bank and the international experts is working out the program of financial education of citizens," he said.
"The regulator has repeatedly fed precautionary information on this," he said, noting that the famous pyramid MMM was not recorded by financial regulators and was not under their supervision."
