Site development of cities rich in ancient history should be carried out very carefully, Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said in an interview with Odesa channel, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reports.
"In such historical cities as Kyiv, Lviv and Odesa, the modernization and reconstruction should be conducted very carefully, with great care and love for the city," Azarov said.
Moreover, he stressed that general plans of cities must be developed and approved before.
"The general plans for urban development must be approved. This is very serious issue, and it should be discussed with historians, archaeologists and specialists on protection of historical monuments, and then we will build new houses in places where it is possible, and where the building will not distort the architectural look of the city," Azarov said.
He also stressed that in his opinion, the general plans of cities must be approved at the highest level, by the government or even the President. Azarov is convinced that it will protect the cities from the spontaneous and unreasonable constructions.
