Today, August 7, a new profile with a nickname "Hryvnia" has appeared on Twitter.
The first message on behalf of Ukrainian currency appeared this morning, at 10:32. Hryvnia informs it is almost 16 years old (national currency was introduced on September 2, 1996 - ed.) and the eldest let it to have its own micro-blog. In further messages, Hryvnia commented on its avatar and praised the achievements of Ukrainian Olympians.
Commenting on the appearance of Hryvnia's blog, economic expert Serhiy Makovenko supposes that this blog may be used to spread inside information of the National Bank and Finance Ministry.
"I don't rule out that this Twitter page may be used to leak inside information of the National Bank and Finance Ministry. I intend to make friends with Hryvnia and follow its posts very attentively," the expert says.
The National Bank of Ukraine denies any involvement into the creation of Twitter page on behalf of the Ukrainian national currency.
