A former major of the state guard Mykola Melnychenko has refused to talk to the officials of the Consulate General of Ukraine in Naples, a spokesman of the Foreign Ministry Oleksandr Dikusarov said at a briefing.
He said that a hearing on Melnychenko’s case had been held in the prosecutor's office at the Court of Appeal in Naples.
"Melnychenko has flatly refused to talk to consular officials of the Consulate General of Ukraine in Naples," Dikusarov said.
He also reported that according to a lawyer of Melnychenko, the detained is still under arrest and refuses to extradite.
According to the spokesperson, the lawyer has confirmed the legal grounds of Italian police officers to detain Melnychenko.
