The People's Party of Volodymyr Lytvyn will go to the elections in the majority constituency, Volodymyr Lytvyn said at the XII Congress of the People's Party of Ukraine, as ForUm correspondent reports.

According to Lytvyn, the People's Party will not be able to overcome a 5% vote threshold, so the deputies from the party will be nominated by single mandate majority constituencies.

In addition, the politician has criticized the current electoral system.

According to him, a 5% threshold may lead to the advantage of self-nominated candidates over political forces.

"At the election there may be a situation when a self-nominee who collects 60 thousand votes will become a MP, and a political force received one million votes will remain outside the Parliament," Lytvyn noted.

In speaker's opinion, we need a "sanitary threshold" at the level of one percent under a mixed electoral system.
