27 Ukrainian actors, athletes and street acrobats played the role of the football mascots Slavek and Slavko, the director of the Ukrainian part of Euro 2012 Markiyan Lubkivsky has said at the press conference today, as ForUm reports.

"They were specially selected and trained," he said.

According to him, the height, the ability to amuse the audience and the capacity to wear an 8 kg uniform were the main criteria for selection. "The youngest actor was 18 years old and the oldest – 30 years old. The mascots worked at 242 events including the matches in Ukraine since November 2011," he said.

Lubkivsky also said that the mascots went abroad to participate in the events, particularly in Russia, Switzerland and Georgia.

According to him, the actors in costume of Slavek and Slavko have appeared before the public for the last time during today's final press conference. "Six sets of mascots’ costumes manufactured for Ukraine will be given in charge to the UEFA main office," he stressed.
