The Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the Russian Federation treats the Ukrainian language and culture with respect, he said during the Russian-Ukrainian Interstate Commission meeting.
"We treat the Ukrainian language and culture with respect. Russia is home for about three million ethnic Ukrainians," Putin said.
According to him, these three million have relatives, so in view of their wives and children, the number of Ukrainians in Russia is several times larger.
Putin noted the importance of discussing humanitarian issues between Russia and Ukraine.
