Agricultural policy and food minister of Ukraine Mykola Prysiazhniuk said that there are no reasons for the introduction of the ban on the export of Ukrainian grain.

“Ukraine has large carry-overs - 12.6 million tons. In addition, is still valid the agreement with the grain traders on that export restrictions shall not be accepted by the government without warning," the minister said.

According to Prysiazhniuk, there are mechanisms and provisions guaranteeing Ukraine a reliable food security throughout the year. "We have enough grain to meet the needs of the domestic market. To ensure food security for a year, we need 6 million tones of food grain and the current grain harvest is expected to be in the amount of 44 million tons. Using for its own needs only 65% of agricultural output, Ukraine has all opportunities to concentrate on exporting its goods to the foreign markets," the minister said.
