The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) recognized the arrest of the former Interior Minister of Ukraine Yuri Lutsenko violates the human rights.

This decision was published on Tuesday in Strasbourg, in the European Court of Human Rights on the results of the complaint of the "famous opposition politician about his arrest."

The court also sentenced Ukraine to pay 15 thousand euros of moral damages to Lutsenko.

In particular, the ECHR counted seven violations of specific articles of the European Convention on Human Rights: two violations of the Article 5, paragraph 1 (right to liberty and security) in respect of the Lutsenko’s arrest and detention in custody, a violation of the Article 5, paragraph 2 (right to be informed of the reasons for arrest ), two violations of the Article 5, paragraph 3 (right to challenge the detention) and a violation of the Article 18 (limitation on use of restrictions on rights).
