The passenger traffic to Ukraine has grown during Euro 2012 by an average of 25% over the same period in 2011," the deputy Director of State Policy in the Field of Railway Transport Oleksandr Fedorenko said, as ForUm learned from the Infrastructure Ministry press service.

"Since the beginning of Euro-2012 and as of June 22, over 5 million people have crossed the border. The growth is significant, the passenger traffic to Ukraine against the same period of the last year has grown by 25%," Oleksandr Fedorenko said.

According to the Coordinating Service, fans are coming to Ukraine by airplanes and trains. "The biggest growth was recorded by Ukrainian airports. For example, in the Kharkiv Airport the number of flights has increased fourfold on average, while in Lviv and Donetsk airports - by approximately 2-2.5 times. In turn, the Boryspil Airport has increased the servicing of passengers threefold so far," he said.

According the Coordination Service forecasts, the largest increase in passenger traffic is still ahead: the match days of the semifinals and the final of the European Championship.
