Russian public organization "Union of Ukrainians of Russia" has filed an appeal to the Appeal Panel of Supreme Court of Russian over the liquidation of the organization. The appeal has been signed by the Union's chairman Taras Dudko.

"The respondent considers the decision of the Supreme Court of Russian on liquidation of "Union of Ukrainians of Russia" organization as illegal and groundless," the 10-page appeal says and provides for detailed arguments in favor of cancellation of the decision.

As a reminder, the Supreme Court of Russia sustained the lawsuit of the Russian Justice Ministry on liquidation of the Union of Ukrainians of Russia.

"Having listened to the explanations of the Justice Ministry and the Union, having studied the materials of the case and having listened to the debates, the Supreme Court decides to sustain the appeal of the Justice Ministry and to liquidate the public organization the Union of Ukrainians of Russia, excluding it from the list of legal entities," Supreme Court Judge Nikolai Romenenko said.

On January 20, 2011 Russian Justice Ministry appealed to the Supreme Court with a demand to liquidate the Union. The appeal said that for the period of August 19-29, 2009 the Justice Ministry held an inspection, which proved that the Union did not observe the legislation and its own regulations.
