The Ukrainian government has approved Poroshenko for the post of the member of the Board of Governors of the World Bank from Ukraine.

As ForUm learned from the Economic Development and Trade Ministry of Ukraine press office, a draft President’s decree, prepared by the ministry, was approved at the Cabinet’s meeting on June 20, 2012.

According to the Regulation on the Economic Development and Trade Ministry of Ukraine, the ministry shall form and ensure the implementation of the state policy in the international financial organizations cooperation area; shall coordinate the work relating to the initiation, preparation and implementation of the projects on economic and social development of Ukraine, supported by the IFIs (the World Bank, the EBRD, The European Investment Bank); shall provide organizational and analytical support for the activity of a member of the World Bank’s Board of Governors member from Ukraine; shall form and implements state policy in the field of public purchasing (being the basis for the formation of effective purchasing strategies and plans, including the IFIs projects to increase the institutional capacity of domestic suppliers of goods and services to participate in the international tenders).

The publication of the Decree of President of Ukraine defines the member of the Board of Governors of the World Bank from Ukraine and obliges to inform the World Bank of such changes.
