Ex-minister of internal affairs Yuri Lutsenko refused the commission medical examination, offered by the Healthcare Ministry specialists, ForUm learned from the press office of the State penitentiary service of Ukraine (SPS). 

The SPS representatives emphasized that the reason of Mr. Lutsenko’s refusal was his distrust of doctors. Mr. Lutsenko made a petition and SPS officers officially documented the refusal.

The representatives of the SPS of Ukraine also informed that for the period of his staying in Kyiv pre-trial detention center, Mr. Lutsenko has undergone medical examination by the Ministry of Healthcare commissions and leading medical specialists for 14 times and has also been delivered to the Ministry of Healthcare institutions to undergo instrumental examination for seven times.

Mr. Lutsenko was hospitalized in the Ministry of Healthcare institutions twice.

In addition, the SPS reports that hepatitis C had not been diagnosed, according to the medical conclusions of the Kyiv City Clinical Emergency Hospital, where Lutsenko was hospitalized April 6-20.

The doctors confirmed the diagnoses previously made by the of Ministry of Healthcare experts commission.

The specialists of the Kyiv City Clinical Emergency Hospital assessed Mr. Lutsenko’s state as satisfactory. Moreover, the doctors have noticed improvement in his health condition if compare to last May.

As reported, February 27, 2011, Kyiv Pechersk district court sentenced Mr. Lutsenko to four years of imprisonment and confiscation of property (643 000 UAH compensation to the MIF for damages), with disqualification to hold senior positions and rank of government official.
