The President reminded that modern perinatal centers have already opened their doors in Kirovohrad, Kharkiv, Kyiv and Donetsk, with the one in Dnepropetrovsk being on the way. "Implementing this project to the full requires adequate funding and attention from local authorities," Viktor Yanukovych said.
The President has instructed Deputy Chief of Staff Iryna Akimova to monitor the work of perinatal centers and the quality of their services. "It is wrong to open [perinatal centers] and then forget all about them. We need to monitor them until they are firmly on their feet and work at full capacity," he stressed.
At the same time, the President said that the care about mothers and children should not be limited to only perinatal centers. "We need to develop pediatric care system, health services at educational institutions, conduct sickness prevention measures at schools and kindergartens," the President said.
