Financial assistance to relatives of mentally ill persons will be increased by ten times, vice PM and minister for social policy Serhiy Tihipko told a briefing in the Cabinet, Forum correspondent reports.
The official informed that on May 22 the parliament adopted the law "On psychiatric assistance."
According to Tihipko, the law provides for increase of monthly financial assistance to relatives of mentally ill persons, staying in mental houses, from 109 hryvnais to 1094 hryvnias.
The minister pointed out that there are 9900 families of this kind in Ukraine. "The financial assistance is now equal to 100% of the minimum wage for employable citizens," he said.
